An architectural eco-resort by WOHA on the rocky plateau of the Bukit peninsula: pavilion villas with pools above the ocean.
Alila Villas Uluwatu sits on a clifftop plateau on Bali's southern coast, on the Bukit peninsula. The complex was designed by the Singapore practice WOHA on sustainable principles: local stone, timber, rattan, and rainwater harvesting and reuse. It opened in 2009.
The villas are conceived as pavilions linked by bridges over water gardens; the terraced roofs are laid with volcanic pumice on which native ferns and succulents grow.
Interiors
A blend of traditional Balinese pavilion architecture and modernism: open spaces, natural materials and ocean views from every area.

A cliff above the Indian Ocean; the pools and pavilions face the sunset.
